Bonaire NAOB 5% Increase Protest

Elvis Tjin-Asjoe from AKIB (and Tjin N.V. and BonaireLive) gives a rousing speech about the damage the tax increase will do to Bonaire.	Over 10% of the island population showed up for the tax protest - many with signs as well as pots and pans to bang on.
Virtually all shops were closed during the tax rally - a strong sign of the business community's adamant stance against the new tax, and a flyer from BONHATA confirmed that the tourism sector also supported the protest.	Commissioner Nochi Willem adds his voice to the protest.
C It was estimated that between 1,200 and 2,000 people showed up for the impromptu tax protest.	And CURO and its dive operator members were there two - a half dozen dive boats with dive operations staff cruised around the harbor near Wilhelmina Plein to support the protest.
